Liberty University

Liberty University was established in 1971. It is a Christian university based in Lynchburg, Virginia.  The founder of this university was Jerry Falwell and Elmer L. Towns.

In the starting, the university began its services with the name of Lynchburg Baptist College. Before changing to a university in 1985, the name was changed to Liberty Baptist College in 1977.

Falwell was the first president of the school and also known as the pastor of Thomas Road Baptist church. After his death, Jerry Falwell Jr. Became the University’s President in 2007.

In the initial stage of this education center, the university received lots of financial help from some major donors.

Since 1999, Liberty University had a strong informal relationship with the Southern Baptist Conservatives of Virginia, and also two of their members are the part of the organization on the university board of trustees.

It is one of the largest Christian university in the world and the largest in the United States as a private non-profit university. The land area of this university is over 7,000 acres which is equal to 28km2.

As of 2017, More than 15,000 students get enrolled as a student in the Lynchburg campus, and more than 94,000 students are enrolled in the online courses.

There are over 200 classrooms, 380 buildings and structures, and over 6.6 million sq. feet of building space. 88% of the students in this university are receiving some form of financial aid.

According to the U.S News and world report, the university is in between 230 to 301 position as a best national university, and 144th position as the best engineering programs in the U.S.

According to Forbes, It is at the 391 positions for the best private colleges, and 245th as the best research.
